Kyrie Irving surprised the NBA world when he announced that he was officially requesting a trade from the Cleveland Cavaliers. Even though everyone was in denial that this was actually true they had no choice but to wait for the inevitable and last August 26 the trade finally happened between the 2016 NBA Champions and the Boston Celtics.
Kyrie Irving was traded to the Boston Celtics for Isaiah Thomas, Jae Crowder, and Ante Zizic, Brooklyn’s unprotected 2018 first-round pick and Miami’s 2020 second-round pick. Despite Isiah Thomas’ injury from the playoffs, the trade between the two best teams in the East still pushed through.
The 25-year-old ex-Cleveland Cavaliers player said that he wants to play in a situation where he can be a more focal scorer and not just be alongside LeBron James. When asked about James, Irving said he hasn’t talked to him yet, but is grateful to have played in the same team as him.
“I haven’t spoken to him, and my intent...was to look back at the amount we covered in the last three years or even before that prior to our relationship and to realize how much growth happened in that amount of time,” said Kyrie.
“I’d be sitting up here telling you guys a lie if I didn’t tell y’all I learned so much from that guy. The perfection of the craft comes in a variety of forms. And I’ve had the unique opportunity to play with one of the greats and it was awesome,” he added.
Fans are now anticipating the effect of the trade to both teams, they are looking forward to the adjustments that both teams are going to make especially since the first game of the season is be
